Guggyheim

Aside from motion sickness issues, I always love visiting the Guggenheim. Such a unique structure. I also have obsessions with war-time art and avant-garde forms. This new exhibit will tickle my fancy. As they describe it, "This vast transformation of contemporary aesthetics in France, Italy, and Germany will encompass painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, film, fashion, and the decorative arts." Sounds like a good Saturday to me.

Call me old fashion, but I like to get dressed for museums. I'm not talking ball gowns, though that would be rather gutsy and fantastic, but a day-dress and boots. While looking at art, why not reflect the work with style?

Our Ikat Dress is punchy enough. Pair with tights, flat OTK boots, a wrap cardi and your fall coat. Voila. Masterpiece. Have a lovely weekend!

I'm really really sorry.

I promise I'm not lazy, but the last days of October were out to get me. After I out ran them, good thing I like running anyway, I went to Atlanta and Miami.

Keds Champion Riff, $45.

Ideal footwear for the oh-so-smooth airport run.

Thoughts on Atlanta, especially after living in Miami and NYC, people are friendly. Just to be friendly. It was so refreshing to receive a smile and not think, "well that was creepy."

My favorite dog is back. So smiley, so cute.
On Miami, saw the fam. Ate too much. It was perfect.

What I just ordered from APART, the Studded Sweater Dress. As we said, it works with everything and it's deceivingly cozy.

Recap

Most important news first, I saw Kim Kardashian. She is as fantastic in real life as you would expect. I have a confession, I don't own a television for various reasons, mainly for space and my attention span is small enough. But, when there's a television in sight and E! is available, those Kardashians draw me in. They epitomize mindless television and they're pretty entertaining.

Here's my friend and my conversation:
Me: OhMyGod. That's Kim Kardashian.
Friend: Who?
Me: Are you serious? Kim Kardashian!
Friend: Is her butt really that big? Is that real?

Things that are making me happy this week include the sweet 'n salty almonds from Starbucks and remembering the book "The Giving Tree."
"The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein
And, having to wear sweaters. Like this wrap one. You'll feel like a ballerina.

Fall Weekends

I'm going to hang with my cousin tonight. She's about the chicest soccer mom you'll ever meet. For example, errands around the house are usually done in 5in Brian Atwoods. She works out everyday, no matter what. And she's a lawyer in her spare time. I know, you wish she was your cousin/BFF too. Actually, my other BFF Lauren is joining in the suburbia fun. Girls night in, check.

We're going to bake pumpkin bread with the kiddies. Using this recipe:  http://tiny.cc/4f3lv

It's definitively fall now. The Today Show cast were all in coats if you don't believe me for yourself. October means fall, but we all know it means Halloween too. I've officially decided to be a diner girl one night. I'm feeling the fifties lately, and I already wear saddle shoes everyday.

That's one night. I'm planning on still being Hester Prynn and it seems my smurfette idea has been unanimously vetoed. It's an unjust world we live in when your friends don't support your blue ambitions.

Gossamer Wrap Cardi in Pale Pink
I love baby pink and powder blue hues with rich chocolate browns. I wear this sweater with my favorite skinny cords and a white tee. You'll find me in this uniform all day Saturday, while camped out reading **hopefully** outside. Have a delicious weekend!

Night Life and Celeb Sightings

Sorry for the week-long absence. Let's just say from Monday at 10pm to 5:26pm on Wednesday, I wasn't a fully functioning person. Too much work to catch up on...c'est la vie. I could have shopped with those bags under my eyes. Lovely image, I know. I looked a bit like this...Except, less fluffy.

Sorry for the silliness.
Actually, like I said to a friend this week, never ever apologize for extra silliness. You wouldn't get angry with someone for putting too many gummi's on your fro-yo or for accidently making your tall misto a grande. Sometimes things are fabulous like that.

Speaking of which, last night me and bff Lauren + her southern belle mama went to a gallery opening on the Upper East Side. We shmoozed, trinked our 'champ, checked out the glamourous outfits and people watched...I mean, er, we took in artwork.

Moi, Mama Jean, bff Lauren.
Me in our Icon Cocktail Dress. I ruined it because I got cold and threw on my cardigan. http://www.apartstyle.com/dresses/icon-cocktail-dress/invt/392199/&bklist=icat,4,shop,apparal,dresses

After, we went to my favorite restaurant in The City. Il Riccio152 E 79th St. I had the grilled goat cheese salad. Lauren had Carciofi Al Taleggio artichokes with melted taleggio cheese ie sinful artichokes in a creamy cheesy divine sauce. Jean, her too cool mom, had prosciutto. We all split the Rigatoni Zigrinati Alla Siciliana rigatoni with eggplant and mozzarella in tomato sauce.

It was a perfect new york city night. I'M OFF TO the city of sparkles,VEGAS, FOR THE WEEKEND. I'M A VERY grateful girl lately. & i'm EXTREMELY SMILE-Y.

EVERYONE SHOULD SMILE MORE. IT'S FREE AND TONS OF FUN. I PROMISE. TALK TO YOU SOON!

"Technology is Scary"

I've been homesick this week. I'm not sure why. I think it's due to stress, so I'm missing my comforts. Like my favorite panini and a good Miami Arepa. Or apparently as I say it, a la Sofía Vergara from Modern Family, an ah-RRehh-PA. The rain isn't helping either. It rains a lot in Miami, but I'd like to pretend it doesn't and thus the rain makes me miss the sun, which in this ideal image is always out at home.

Maybe I'll finally brave the line at Caracas Arepa Bar this weekend. Then again, if we make it out at all I'll feel accomplished...

Today I snagged a trench coat from our spring samples. I'm a little obsessed. What are your thoughts?
Yes, I'm naturally that awkward. And yes, I  still secretly hope I'm growing.

Also, I *heart* Carey Mulligan. I read a quote from her today that made me laugh aloud. "I think any advance in technology is scary. I'm terrified of iPads!" It's so ridiculous and I can absolutely relate.

She'd adorable and she seems like she's someone you grew up with. I'm aware I didn't grow up in England.
I think I have a girl-crush...Hey! We all have one.
HAPPY WEEKEND!

Under my Umbrella, Ella.

Parapluie. Paraguas. Umbrella is a fun word. In every language.
She's too cool. It takes a lot to pull of a white lace parasol, AND to match it to your dress.
Miami has been dealing with Tropical Storm Nicole and she seems to be making her way north to The City. I love rain. Not when I'm running errands, need to buy groceries and attempting to go for a jog, but generally speaking we're friends.

Here are my picks for top rainy day fashion:

Waterproof Art, what could be better?!

Get it at: http://tiny.cc/hpwdj, $65
Smother yourself in Kisses.

Kisses from Marc Jacobs, who can resist?! Buy it at Shopbop.com. $48
Don't get lost amongst the beige masses!

APART Jewel Trench
$299, apartstyle.com
And if you like to stick to the classic downpour protection, indulge in these charms. I *heart* pendant necklaces. The more delicate, the sweeter. The more random, the better. There's nothing like having a little silliness around.

For those dedicated to my newfound umbrella obsession, the Tiffany Umbrella Charm and Necklace. Charm, $975, Link Clasp Necklace, $3250.

I love the name of this shop!
